Fraud Protection

Protect your business and your consumers from fraud

Fraud is a fact in this day and age. Especially with the birth and growth of the online purchase, but not all fraud is limited to the card-not-present transaction. We have to be careful of full-blown identity theft as well as credit card number theft. Consumers are very concerned about someone obtaining their credit, debit or check card numbers, and with good reason. But new fraud-protection services offered by Clearpay Processing are helping to decrease the incidence of identity theft and credit card fraud.

Fraud Management Solutions, a proactive approach to risk management

Reduce losses and increase sales

Purchases of goods and services by mail, telephone, and Internet are increasing. It's fast and easy, but is it safe? That's typically the question both merchants and consumers ask. Merchants want tools and resources that confirm transactions are legitimate. Consumers want assurance that their account information is being guarded.

As the nation's leading processor of ecommerce and direct marketing payment transactions, Clearpay Processing understands the nuances of potential transaction fraud. We have made it our business to become fraud management experts and we put our knowledge to work for our merchants, delivering powerful products and offering third-party fraud solutions.

Fraud Management Solutions:

Address Verification Service (AVS) - Helps reduce the risk of accepting fraudulent transactions by verifying the cardholder's billing address on file with the card issuer.
Card Security Verification - Compares the card security value, non-embossed 3- or 4-digit numeric code on the credit card, with the issuer's value on file. Credit card verification programs are offered by the major card associations and are known as CVV2 (Visa), CVC2 (MasterCard), CID (American Express) and CID (Discover Card).
Credit Card Authentication - Verifies a cardholder's account ownership during an online purchase. With Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard SecureCode, consumers are assured that using a bankcard online is as safe as using it at a local merchant.
Transaction Scoring - Analyzes relationships between various data fields to identify suspicious orders and to distinguish in real-time the probability of fraudulent transactions.
Identity Authentication - Operates like a virtual "card present" environment by performing real-time authentication of a purchaser's identity using proprietary databases.
Age Verification - Uses an international database of government-issued identifications to instantaneously verify age and identity online.
Card Brand Data Security - Compliance with the Visa and MasterCard data security programs (CISP and SDP) protects your cardholder data and reduces fraud.

Card Brand Data Security Requirements

Protect Your Cardholder Data.

Visa's CISP (Cardholder Information Security Program) and MasterCard's SDP (Site Data Protection) programs are security initiatives that require merchants to safeguard card data. Visa and MasterCard, along with the other card brands, have adopted common industry security requirements referred to as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).

Customers and businesses using electronic forms of payment expect their cardholder data to be stored securely and privately. Clearpay Processing, in partnership with the Card Brands, data security firms and national Issuing Banks, helps educate its merchants on the basics of data security and the mandatory industry requirements around the protection of data throughout the payment transaction process.

Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS)

The PCI DSS are summarized below. Detailed standards are available at Visa's Cardholder Information Security Program Tools & FAQ (select PCI Data Security Standard under Document/Resource Downloads).
